The Project :
The app is used to test children with and without autism on syntactic complexity through eleven target structures.
The comprehension of theses structures is evaluated through a tablet app designed with reference to clinical speech and language tools, specifically with regard to the use of a familiarization phase, avoiding unnecessary visual and verbal detail, and rotating correct and incorrect responses. Vocabulary was drafted with reference to English language norms for words expected for children aged 3-6 years. The examiner sit with each child and monitor their progress. Pauses will be provided as needed, with the possibility of administration across more than one session
Personalized avatar
Meet Alex, the 3D agent that will guide the player through all the app. The character is animated (idling; talking and cheering) and voiced in English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
Choose a land to explore
The world map gives the child the choice to navigate through the app in the order he prefers.
11 exercises per level
Each land is composed of eleven exercices, each targetting a specific target structure.
Simple to use
After receiving instructions from Alex, all the child has to do is click on the element that seems to be the right answer. Positive feedback is then provided, regardless of the correctness of the answer, to keep the child stimulated and motivated.
